Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick and effortless way to create a modern, architectural look. Suited to modern Scandinavian style, the panels form a seamless slatted wall surface and make a noticeable improvement to room acoustics.

The acoustic panel's base felt is 100% recycled polyester fibre, specially developed to reduce noise levels and remove room reverberation. MDF slats attached on top of the felt are finished with real wood veneer, giving the panel a naturally attractive finish. Installation can be done with the supplied screws or with adhesive purchased separately.

How it works
The acoustic slatted panel reduces sound in two ways:

• The felt acts as an absorptive material that absorbs sound

• The slats and their gaps diffuse sound by diffraction, scattering it in different directions

Although a slatted panel does not absorb sound as effectively as a traditional absorber, it often creates a more balanced and natural acoustic, especially in living spaces. The difference can be noticed, for example, in clearer speech or reduced echoes from loud noises such as bangs.

Natural sound environment
The panel's natural effect comes from some sound reflecting off the slats and being scattered more softly. This shortens reverberation and makes a space less echoey, improving comfort in homes and workplaces. In speech, listeners need to process less reverberant sound, which can help with clarity, for example for people with hearing difficulties.

Tip: You can easily test a room's reverberation by clapping your hands once in different parts of the room. In a reverberant space you will hear how long the echo lingers.

Installation
Panels are easiest to screw directly to battens. For concrete walls horizontal battens are recommended. The supplied black drywall screws blend into the felt, and additional screws are readily available from DIY stores.

If you want to extend absorption slightly to lower frequencies — for example for music listening — you can:

• Install the panel off the wall onto battens so sound does not reflect back immediately after passing through the felt and instead reflects at several interfaces

• Add mineral wool in the batten cavities to increase absorption. The wool or acoustic panel added between can even be used or slightly worn on the surface, since it will be hidden

The panel can also be installed directly over partition insulation without plasterboard, but in that case the effect is limited to the room's internal acoustics. A downside is that sound may travel more easily to adjacent rooms, and the panel will not be as effective as a missing plasterboard for sound insulation.

Practicality
Evella panels provide an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or plasterwork. They are suitable for both walls and ceilings, and installation is quick.
