Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick and effortless way to create a modern, architectural look. The panels suit modern Scandinavian interiors, forming a seamless slatted wall surface and significantly improving room acoustics.

The backing felt is 100% recycled polyester fibre, specially designed to reduce noise and remove room reverberation. MDF slats attached to the felt are veneered with real wood, giving the panel a natural, attractive finish. Installation can be done using the supplied screws or with adhesive purchased separately.

How it works
The acoustic slatted panel reduces sound in two ways:

• The felt acts as an absorptive layer that soaks up sound

• The slats and gaps scatter sound by diffraction, dispersing it in different directions

Although a slatted panel does not absorb sound as effectively as a traditional heavy absorber, it often creates a more balanced and natural acoustic, especially in living spaces. The difference is noticeable in speech clarity and reduced echo from sudden loud sounds.

Natural sound environment
The panel’s natural effect comes from part of the sound being reflected by the slats and scattered more softly. This shortens reverberation and makes the room less echoey, improving comfort for living and working. In particular, listeners need to process less reverberant sound, which helps with clearer hearing, e.g. for those with hearing difficulties.

Tip: You can easily test the room’s reverberation by clapping once at different spots in the room. In a very reverberant room you will hear the echo ring out for longer.

Installation
Panels are easiest to screw directly onto battens. For concrete walls horizontal battens are recommended. The supplied black drywall screws blend into the felt, and extra screws are readily available from DIY stores.

If you want to extend absorption to slightly lower frequencies — for example for music listening — you can:

• Mount the panel off the wall on battens so sound does not reflect immediately back through the felt but instead reflects between multiple interfaces

• Add mineral wool between the battens to increase absorption. The wool or an acoustic panel used can be even second-hand and worn-looking since it will be hidden

The panel can also be mounted directly over insulation in a partition wall without plasterboard, but then the effect is limited to the room where it is installed. A downside is that sound transfers more easily to the adjacent room and the panel is not as effective a sound barrier as a missing plasterboard would be.

Practicality
Evella panels offer an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or plastering. They are suitable for walls and ceilings and allow quick installation.
