TERMS APPLICABLE TO THE CITY OF ESPOO’S CHRISTMAS TREE SALES SITES IN 2026

The sales permit issued by the City of Espoo and acquired through the winning bid at the auction (huutokaupat.com) (hereinafter the “Sales Permit”) entitles the holder to sell Christmas trees in the area separately circled on the map attached to the auction listing, on land owned and controlled by the City of Espoo (hereinafter the “Sales Site”). The Sales Site cannot be changed.

The Sales Permit is valid daily from 7 December to 24 December 2026, from 07:00 to 21:00, except on Christmas Eve, when it is valid from 07:00 to 16:00. The Sales Permit is valid only in 2026 and does not entitle the holder to use the Sales Site after the permit has expired.

The Sales Site is handed over in its existing condition. The bidder is responsible for carefully familiarising themselves with the Sales Site and its surroundings in advance. The permit holder accepts that similar activities may be carried out in the vicinity of the Sales Site. The City will not arrange security for the Sales Site.

After the sale of trees has ended, the permit holder must, no later than 29 December 2026, remove from the Sales Site any unsold trees and tree waste and clean each Sales Site in their possession.

If the permit holder leaves trees at the Sales Site or otherwise neglects to clean it, the permit holder must pay the City of Espoo a contractual penalty of EUR 2,000 for each uncleaned Sales Site that was in the permit holder’s possession. The contractual penalty will be invoiced to the permit holder on the basis of the neglect being established, without further consultation with the permit holder. All observed failures to fulfil the cleaning obligation will be photographed and documented.

Advertising equipment or other equipment that prevents or obstructs the maintenance or normal use of the surroundings of the Sales Site may not be brought to the Sales Site. Plantings or equipment at the Sales Site must not be damaged. The use of planted trees or shrubs to support trees for sale is prohibited. If the Sales Site is located near a substation, the trees must be positioned for sale so that access to the substation remains unobstructed. Sales stands or trees may not be “planted” in the ground by making holes. The sale of juniper or any other goods at the Sales Site is prohibited.

The auction winner may not transfer, rent out, assign or sell the Sales Permit or Sales Site to another person, company or organisation. The permit holder is responsible for ensuring that parties operating at the Sales Site on their behalf comply with the terms of the Sales Permit.

If use of the Sales Site is prevented for a reason attributable to the City, the City undertakes to promptly provide the permit holder with a replacement Sales Site or, if no replacement Sales Site can be provided, alternatively refund the fee paid for the Sales Permit. No other compensation will be paid.

If the permit holder or their representative fails to comply with these instructions or other applicable provisions issued by a city authority, a representative of the City of Espoo’s Land Unit or another competent authority has the right to suspend the permit holder’s activities at the Sales Site without compensation or a refund being paid for any unused sales period.
