Superior purification method, photocatalytic oxidation

Airocide uses photocatalytic oxidation, which removes organic compounds from room air and destroys mould spores, bacteria and viruses by breaking them down into inactive components inside the device.

The device's reaction chamber contains hundreds of small glass tubes coated with titanium dioxide (TiO2), activated by UV light to cause a powerful catalytic reaction with the air. In other words, when harmful fine particles in the air come into contact with the glass tubes, the catalytic reaction destroys them while producing clean, fresh air.

Technology developed for the space station

Airocide technology dates back to the mid-1990s, when NASA developed it in cooperation with the Wisconsin Center for Space Automation and Robotics at the University of Wisconsin for use on the International Space Station (ISS). NASA-patented Airocide nanoparticle technology is superior to other air purification technologies such as HEPA, ionisation, electrostatic filtration and activated carbon filtration. Airocide does not trap pollutants in filters, but eliminates all molecules and viruses, even those smaller than 0.3 microns.
