Register for the tender (Former Kivijärvi School log building) — 2-stage auction, Lahti

Lahti Facilities Centre seeks a new user and purpose for the former Kivijärvi school log building being sold by closed auction procedure.

The former Kivijärvi school comprises several sections built at different times. We seek a new owner for the old log building constructed in 1919–1920. The City of Lahti has commissioned a building‑historical survey. The log building (approximately 310 m²) formerly contained the teacher’s apartment and school rooms. Originally the building had three chambers, an entrance hall and a kitchen. Teaching spaces included a classroom, a craft room, an entrance hall, a small vestibule and a room for teaching. This section has been vacant for several years. A separate leasable plot/parcel will be separated from property 521-410-3-105.

If a new owner is found, as part of developing the property the city intends to demolish sections added as extensions to the log building so that the extension built in 2003 remains on the current plot. The new owner must obtain required connections (water, sewer, wastewater, electricity, etc.). The new owner will also be responsible for renovating the building, obtaining related permits and any change of use.

The log building for sale is being offered by a closed auction procedure. In the first stage the bidder submits a participation notice and a plan for intended use (one bid for this auction and a separate participation notice with the intended‑use plan submitted by the deadline by email); selected participants will be invited separately to the closed auction (to submit the purchase price for the property).

Stage 1: participation notice (submit one bid to this notice and a separate written participation notice and intended‑use concept by the deadline); this is not an offer for the property but entitles participation in stage 2.

Stage 2: a purchase‑price bid is created (a separate auction for invited participants only).

Lahti Facilities Centre requires that participating in this first stage secures the right to take part in the second stage.

Separate written participation notice

The participation notice must present a plan for the proposed use of the building for sale. Please also provide contact details: name, telephone number and email address. Failure to submit the participation notice by the deadline will lead to rejection from the tender and will not permit participation in stage 2.

The separate participation notice must be submitted by 31 August 2026 at 12:00 by email to anna.tervo@lahti.fi (Subject: "Former Kivijärvi school log building").

Credit checks will be carried out on those invited to the auction. Invited participants will be notified of the closed auction’s time and given access instructions to the auction site.

Lahti Facilities Centre reserves the right to accept or reject received participation notices. Bidders agree to disclosure of contact details for decision‑making and accept electronic notification.
