For rent: Unarinköngäs wilderness cabin, Meltausjoki, Rovaniemi

For rent in the northern part of Rovaniemi, on the bank of the Meltausjoki, a wilderness cabin with a separate riverside sauna. In addition to the main room, the cabin has a kitchen with a gas stove and gas fridge. Lighting can be arranged to suit your preference, either with candles, LED lamps or similar. There is no well, so drinking water must be taken from a spring (300 m away) or from the river.

The property is rented for private leisure use only, so business use is not permitted. The lease term is 5–10 years and the rent is tied to the cost of living index.
In the auction, the bid is therefore the amount of one year's rent (EUR/year)

The cabin is rented with the equipment and furnishings that are in place at the time the lease is signed.

The property is rented in the condition it is in at the time of rental, and under the terms of the lease the tenant's obligations will include the full maintenance and upkeep of the buildings, including minor repairs. Metsähallitus, as landlord, will therefore not take part in the above maintenance costs during the lease period. Possible larger repairs of a major renovation nature will be decided by Metsähallitus separately on a case-by-case basis. Metsähallitus pays the property tax and building fire insurance.

Access to the cabin is either from the turning point at Unarinkönkääntie via the suspension bridge over the Meltausjoki, or via the forest road branching off the road between Niesi and Unari. The walking distance is about 0.5 km on both routes. Please note that the above roads are not ploughed in winter.

No special rights or benefits, such as fishing or hunting permits, will be included in the agreement.

Addition 10.9.2026

The suspension bridge at Unarinkönkäs will be dismantled in 2027 or 2028, so after that access will be via the Niesi-Unari road.
