For the cabin or anywhere without sewer connection
This ready-to-use freezing toilet needs no water connection, sewer connection or ventilation construction. All you need is a plug socket in the wall. Portable and plug & play installation make it the ideal choice for summer cottages and any space without sewer access. The oval 21-litre inner container inside the toilet bowl takes a biodegradable bag, which you can hygienically remove into the compost.

Superior energy efficiency
The Ekohytte Frost freezing toilet has been designed with particular focus on energy economy. Optimised compressor technology and extra-thick insulation make the toilet extremely energy efficient. Ekohytte Frost consumes only 0.36 kWh/day, i.e. only half of comparable competing products. The thick base insulation of the toilet bowl and high adjustable legs mean the freezing toilet must be installed in a heated space.

In addition to minimal electricity consumption, Ekohytte Frost stands out from competing products with its beautiful and minimalist design. Before use

• After unpacking the product, check that it is undamaged. Contact the retailer if you notice any damage.

• Keep the unit in its normal upright position for at least half an hour. Any oil that may have entered the pipe during transport will then flow back into the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable legs. Adjust them before use so that the toilet stands securely and level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything in it that is not compostable, such as rubbish, sanitary products, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet should be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used in a room with underfloor heating, as it has thick base insulation and high legs. Heat increases the unit’s electricity consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to a radiator or other heat source. The optimum room temperature is +10 to +22 degrees, maximum +30 degrees. The toilet should be placed level and secured using its legs.

Use

• Press the bottom of the bio bag onto the bottom of the container and fold the ends over the top of the container so that it can be placed into the toilet seat

• Check that the bucket handle is on the inside so that the seat ring and lid close properly

• Plug in the unit and switch on the toilet using the switch so that the green indicator light comes on

• Wait about one hour before use

Emptying

• When the bucket is about 2/3 full, the bio bag should be replaced

• Fold the top edges of the bio bag inwards inside the container and lift the container out of the seat

• Compost the waste in a household or garden waste composter, into which you have placed plenty of absorbent material before emptying the waste

• Break the surface of the bag, for example with a manure fork, and cover with a layer of absorbent material

• Check whether ice has formed on the edges under the bucket basin. If necessary, melt the ice and dry the walls.

Use of absorbent material
Absorbent material does not need to be used in the freezing toilet. It should only be added for post-composting.

Cleaning
Clean the Ekohytte by wiping it with a damp cloth. You may use any household all-purpose cleaner. The container can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before putting it back. Do not use water when cleaning the back wall. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods of non-use

• Disconnect the unit from the socket

• Empty, clean and dry the container and cold tray

• Leave the lid open

• The unit may be stored in an unheated space
