For sale is this 7-seater VW Touran 1.4 TSI with DSG automatic transmission, registered in 2010, which has been used as a courtesy car here for around three years. It has served us well, and during our ownership it has always been serviced and inspected on time. No major repairs have been needed; one front spring and its top mount were replaced for last year's inspection, and a door lock mechanism was recently replaced. Otherwise, it has managed with routine servicing. A slight rattling noise has been heard from the timing system for 1–2 seconds when cold throughout our ownership. It has not worsened at all during our use; as I understand it, this noise is considered normal on these cars before the engine reaches normal oil pressure. If it continued for longer or occurred while driving, the situation would be more serious. However, the timing chain kit was replaced at 143,000 km in 2017.

Pros:

• Sound, good-feeling car to drive; it has never left us stranded during our three years of ownership

• The 7-seat layout offers good travelling options for a larger family

• Engine and gearbox work well and it does not use oil excessively

• Good 16" summer tyres on alloy wheels

• Good 15" studded winter tyres on steel wheels

• 2-DIN head unit with navigation, phone, Bluetooth, etc. The navigation antenna should be installed elsewhere to obtain a proper signal. NOTE! The original head unit can also be included if desired.

Cons:

• A slight rattling noise from the timing system on cold starts (1–2 sec.)

• Some rust and scuff marks on the body; see photos

If cosmetic issues are not a major concern, this is an excellent, capable car that should still serve well for a long time. Most of the rust could be concealed with a single spray can, if you feel like tidying it up. We have not done more cosmetic work ourselves, in case the buyer wants to carry out the repairs properly or better than with spray paint.
