Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick and effortless way to create a modern, architectural look in a space. Suitable for modern Scandinavian style, the panels create a seamless slatted wall surface and significantly improve room acoustics.

The acoustic panel’s backing felt is made from 100% recycled polyester fibre, specially developed to reduce noise levels and eliminate reverberation. The MDF slats attached to the backing felt are covered with genuine wood veneer, giving the panel a naturally beautiful finish. Installation can be carried out with the supplied screws or separately purchased adhesive.

How it works
The acoustic slat panel absorbs sound in two ways:

• The felt acts as an absorbent material that absorbs sound

• The slats and the gaps between them scatter sound through diffraction, dispersing it in different directions

Although a slat panel does not absorb sound as effectively as a traditional acoustic panel, it often creates more balanced and natural acoustics, especially in living spaces. The difference can be noticed, for example, in clearer conversations or reduced reverberation from loud sounds such as knocks.

A natural sound environment
The panel’s natural effect comes from some sound being reflected by the slats and dispersed more softly. This shortens reverberation and makes the space less echoey, improving comfort at home and work. Particularly for speech, the listener has to process less reverberant sound, which also helps with clarity, e.g. for people with hearing difficulties.

Tip! You can easily test the echo in a space by clapping your hands once in different parts of the room. In a hard-surfaced room, you can hear how long the reverberation continues.

Installation
The panels are easiest to screw directly into battens. Horizontal battens are recommended on concrete walls. The supplied black drywall screws blend into the felt, and additional screws are readily available from hardware shops.

If you want to extend the absorption range slightly lower – for example, for listening to music – you can:

• Install the panel spaced away from the wall on battens, so that sound is not reflected back immediately after passing through the felt and instead reflects from several different surfaces

• Add wool insulation between the battens, which improves absorption. The wool or acoustic panel added between the battens may even be used and worn-looking, as it will remain hidden

The panel can also be installed directly over the insulation in a partition wall without plasterboard, but in this case the effect is limited to the room’s internal acoustics. The downside is that sound travels more easily to the adjacent room, and the panel does not provide sound insulation as effectively as the missing plasterboard.

Practicality
Evella panels provide an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or skimming work. They are suitable for both walls and ceilings, and installation is quick.
