Towable Mega Hot Tub with 50 kW Oil Burner!, Punkalaidun

For sale: a long-serving giant hot tub that has seen many bottoms. Built in 2011 and in use since.

The roadworthiness inspection expired in 2024 as it hasn’t been in heavy use for a few years and wasn’t re-tested. It should need little more than brake adjustment and a tyre check for the inspection. Paperwork lists gross weight as 950 kg, so choose the tow vehicle accordingly. It does create noticeable drag, so don’t tow with a very small car.

Specifications:

• Chassis and papers from an SF-Matkaaja caravan (frame rebuilt from heavier RHS)

• Internal dimensions 2 x 3 m, interior surface marine-grade aluminium. Benches are aspen, from 2011 so due for replacement (still functional)

• Timber frame assembled in a log-style (no plank cladding), with aluminium directly inside the log frame. U-bolts pass through the logs into the steel frame.

• Water capacity 5.5 m3 — fills slowly from a kitchen tap.

• Own sturdy legs at each corner (4 pieces), coarse adjustment with a pin and fine height adjustment with a large thread.

• Internal stove made of the same marine aluminium.

• Oil burner Oilon KP-6, currently fitted with approx. 50 kW nozzle; heating time from freezing about 4.5 hours (little difference summer/winter). Two 30 L jerry cans. Initial heating uses just over 20 L; two full cans will cover a weekend.

• PT100 thermostat controls heating; hysteresis adjustable to 0.1 °C. Currently set around 0.3 °C, found suitable over the years.

• Water circulation (low intake at the back and blow-up beside the stove). Sand filter — probably the fourth installed in its life, as it can freeze occasionally.

• Seats 15 people side by side comfortably.

• Comfortable seat height and a rim high enough to shield the neck from wind.

• Includes proper registration number!

  
  

This works brilliantly and is very fuss-free. Switch it on and the thermostat manages the rest.

The stove is very efficient and the water heats evenly.

It would benefit from a little TLC as 15 years show on the exterior.

The oil burner has been in place for the same period and could use some servicing.

Last used a few months ago, so it does work.
