Technically robust 3.6-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, without the concerns and lag of a turbo, with a chain-driven timing system and suitable for 95-octane petrol. Paired with the 5EAT automatic transmission, considered bombproof by internet experts (i.e. not the more failure-prone CVT). Excellent rear-biased (45/55) permanent all-wheel drive with the highly regarded VTD system; very pleasant and logical to drive. Formula-style paddles behind the steering wheel for manual gear changes, for example selecting a lower gear for overtaking. According to the trip computer, average consumption has been 8.0 l/100 km over the last 1,800 km.

For winter, studded tyres driven less than 10,000 km (repaired IceContact 3 tyres from the weight-saving range) in the narrower 215/65R17 profile.

For summer, choose either the older 18-inch Toyo tyres with impressive EtaBeta Tettsut Black Inox alloy wheels, or newer 17-inch GoodYear tyres on Dezent wheels. Both have around 4 mm of tread. And if the bidding gets really lively, the winner may, if desired, take all three sets of tyres plus a set of 18-inch EtaBeta Jofiel Black Inox wheels.

Non-smoking interior; a cat has travelled in it a couple of times for short trips, but no other animals have been transported. The air-conditioning refrigerant was last checked a couple of years ago; it still blows cold

You can drive this to Lapland without needing a toilet break, even with the heating on. And once there, you need not shy away from poorer side roads. Nor does it nag you about every trivial matter like newer cars do.
