Chevrolet Camaro, 1982, Hyvinkää

The car has been at auction a couple of times. The first time I accepted the bid, but the highest bidder was a jokester.

The second time I rejected it because it went for too little.

Now it’s here for the last time and the highest bid will be accepted!

It is currently serving as a daily driver, almost 100 km per day, but these American cars are not necessarily my thing as a hobby car.

1982 Camaro, genuine Z28, fitted with a 350 small-block + TH350.

Massaged, approx. 320 hp at the wheels and only 53,000 on the clock.

It stood for over 20 years, so the mileage may well be correct; according to Traficom’s data, it’s not far from the truth either.

Painted after storage and the rust repairs appear to have been done properly; you could even call the car completely rust-free!

The paint overall is tidy, but there are a few very minor marks. In winter, if you wet-sand it and polish it, it can be brought into truly fine condition for spring.

Discs all round, Koni shock absorbers.

The engine has been built as follows

- 350 crate bottom end (low mileage)

- Edelbrock E-Street heads

- Comp XE262H camshaft + lifters

- Comp 1.6 roller-tip rockers with poly locks and CR moly pushrods

- Edelbrock Air Gap dual-plane intake manifold

- Accel USA HEI distributor

- Hooker shorty headers

- new aluminium radiator and electric fan

- Edelbrock AVS2 carburettor

TH350, according to the previous owner strengthened.

The engine note is good, the carburettor should be adjusted a bit and the transmission fluid should be changed soon.

The car currently runs very well, but at full throttle it runs a little rich.

Edit: the car has been tuned further; now it is just a tiny bit of fine-tuning away from perfection.

The car has an air/fuel mixture gauge in the cabin, so it’s easy to know when everything is spot on.

The starter sometimes misses; if it doesn’t start on the first try, then on the second or third. A new starter costs €100 and even an inexperienced mechanic can replace it in about half an hour. It always starts eventually, so no need to worry too much.

Now a real bargain: such low-mileage examples are unlikely to come up again soon! The hardware has more than enough potential for a serious enthusiast.
