A reliable Honda is now being sold to make room for a newer Accord! A trustworthy workhorse that has served well as a daily driver, just driven from Helsinki to Kirkenes in Norway and back without any issues. It has clocked up a lot of miles, but the mechanics in these are durable and both the engine and gearbox work well. There are some cosmetic issues with the body.


The car has had the following work done:

  • 1/25 starter replaced

  • 8/25 major work done on ball joints, anti-roll bar link, bushing etc. in the suspension

  • 8/26 during service, the right rear brake pad was noted to be nearly worn out; both rear pads were replaced, calipers serviced and freed up. Discs are fine


The car has therefore been serviced very recently, and was taken to inspection in August and failed there, see defect list. It still has a little over a month of driving time left.


The air conditioning works well, the audio system is fine, and it comes with good-condition Nokian summer tyres driven for just over two seasons. For winter, it also has good-condition Nokian studded tyres used for two seasons. The windscreen is worn, but there are no stone chips or cracks. Pulls well and runs nicely.


Within the past year the engine warning light has come on twice, but it went out by itself some time after switching the car off and restarting it. It then gave a fault code for the accelerator pedal position sensor. This does not affect driving in any way; the last time the warning light came on and went off was a month ago, and it has not appeared since.


Get this fixed for inspection and you will have a good daily driver for winter! It has also been good in winter: warm and always starts well, and the battery is in good condition too.

Defects and other observations

Inspection defect list (to be fixed by 12/10):

  • Lambda values out of range & exhaust leak: the flexible joint in the exhaust and the joint between the rear silencer and the pipe are leaking; according to the inspector, fixing these will most likely get it through emissions. The car was also taken to Tiittanen’s workshop, where the master estimated that in addition to replacing the flex joint, the rear section of the exhaust should also be replaced (there is an old weld at the joint, and apparently a new weld would not last long). I cannot say whether welding it would be enough for inspection, as I do not have the welding skills.

  • One rear bushing should be replaced

  • Beam pattern unclear: no surprise when looking at the headlamps. Polishing should help

  • Battery fastening already repaired!

Quite a bit of rust in the wheel arches. Otherwise the rust situation was good according to the inspector; the rear subframe was not rotten and light was not shining through the sill boxes. Rust often eats these before the mechanics fail, but this one has not rotted badly anywhere else than the arches.


The undertray is hanging a bit at the front, mounting pins have come loose


At the most recent service the brake fluid was supposed to be changed, but according to the service report: "brake fluid nipples are seized and rounded off, brake fluid could not be changed"


Slight steering wheel vibration at motorway speeds, the wheel alignment could be adjusted
