Now up for auction: 62 colour-defective acoustic boards — one pallet!
On these “wasp-shell” panels the sides of the slats have been left without the dark colour and
the black finish is more of a grey shade.
See the photos for details. Note! The panels have cling film on top.
Note! The photo shows only 8 pieces; the auction is for 62 pieces — one pallet!
62 pieces of Evella VN40 black oak 2400 x 600 mm wood-veneer acoustic panels
Beautiful and functional acoustic interior panels. Slat width 40 mm. Single panel dimensions 2400 x 600 mm. Includes black fixing screws for wall installation.
Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick and effortless way to create a modern, architectural effect in a space. The panels suit modern Scandinavian style, creating a seamless slatted wall surface and significantly improving room acoustics.
The panel’s backing felt is made of 100% recycled polyester fibre, specially developed to reduce noise levels and shorten reverberation. The MDF slats fixed to the backing felt are covered with genuine wood veneer, giving the panel a natural, attractive finish. Installation can be done with the supplied screws or with adhesive purchased separately.
How it works
A slatted acoustic panel reduces sound in two ways:
The felt acts as an absorbing material that takes up sound
The slats and their gaps scatter sound by diffraction, dispersing it in different directions
Although a slatted panel does not absorb sound as effectively as a traditional acoustic absorber, it often creates a more balanced and natural acoustic, especially in living areas. The difference can be noticed in the clarity of speech or the reduction of echoes from sharp noises, such as bangs.
Natural sound environment
The panel’s natural effect comes from part of the sound reflecting off the slats and being scattered more softly. This shortens reverberation and makes the room less echoey, improving comfort for living and working. In speech, the listener has less reverberation to process and can hear more clearly, which also helps those with hearing difficulties.
Tip! You can easily test a room’s reverberation by clapping your hands once in different spots — in a reverberant space you will hear the echo last longer.
Installation
Panels are easiest to screw directly to battens. For concrete walls horizontal battens are recommended. The supplied black drywall screws blend into the felt; additional screws are easily available from hardware stores.
If you want to extend the effective absorption to slightly lower frequencies — e.g. for music listening — you can:
Install the panel off the wall onto battens so the sound does not immediately reflect back after passing through the felt and is reflected at multiple interfaces
Add mineral wool between the battens to increase absorption. The wool or acoustic panel added in the cavity can even be used and scruffy-looking, as it will be hidden
The panel can also be installed directly over partition wall insulation without plasterboard, but this limits the effect to the room’s internal acoustics. The downside is that sound transmits more easily to the neighbouring room and the panel does not act as effectively as a sound insulator as when plasterboard is present.
Practicality
Evella panels offer an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or plastering. They are suitable for walls and ceilings, and installation is quick.
