Ekohytte Frost has been designed with a strong focus on energy economy. Optimised compressor technology and extra‑thick insulation make the unit extremely energy‑efficient. Ekohytte Frost consumes only 0.36 kWh per 24 hours — about half the consumption of comparable competing products. The thick base insulation and high adjustable feet mean the freezing toilet must be installed in a heated space.

Before use

• After removing the product from its packaging, check for any damage. Contact the seller if you find any damage.

• Leave the unit standing upright for at least half an hour. Any oil that may have moved into the refrigerant circuit during transport will then flow back to the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Set them before use so that the toilet stands firmly and level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything that will not compost in it, e.g. rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ashes or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used on underfloor‑heated floors because of the thick base insulation and high feet. Heat increases the unit’s power consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to a radiator or other heat source. The optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. The toilet must be placed level and secured using the adjustable feet.

Use

• Push the base of the biodegradable bag into the bucket and fold the bag’s top over the rim so the bucket can be lowered into the seat.

• Ensure the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close properly.

• Plug into the wall and switch the toilet on so the green indicator light comes on.

• Wait about one hour before first use.

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, the biodegradable bag should be replaced.

• Tuck the bag’s top edge into the bucket and lift the bucket out of the seat.

• Compost the waste in a household or garden compost bin to which you have already added a generous layer of absorbent material before emptying.

• Pierce the bag surface, for example with a garden fork, and cover with a layer of absorbent material.

• Check for ice build‑up on the rim of the cooling compartment. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

• Place a new bag in position.

Use of absorbents
Absorbents are not required for a freezing toilet. They are only needed for the subsequent composting stage.

Cleaning
Clean Ekohytte by wiping with a damp cloth. You may use all common household cleaning agents. The bucket can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before replacing. Do not use water to clean the rear cooling compartment wall. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods of non‑use

• Unplug the unit.

• Empty, clean and dry the bucket and cooling compartment.

• Leave the lid open.

• The unit can be stored in an unheated space.
