The barrel is made of polyethylene and is completely seamless — very easy to keep clean and easy to use.

The full delivery includes a durable, snow-load resistant plastic cover with lifting handle, a large approx. 35 kW marine aluminium stove, drain tap and drain pipe. The barrel is insulated. The base contains a 45 cm Styrox fill so this tub will not frost at the bottom. The outer shell is domestic heat-treated pine (Lunawood). The tub package is 100% Finnish quality workmanship.

Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s Classic Hot Tub is manufactured in Finland down to every last particle. We are proud of our production line and we have made this Classic Hot Tub model for years with the same reliable process. The rim panels arrive at the factory as long stock. They are cut to length and assembled into an element into which a pre-glued insulating base from Sastamala (Jackon) and an Oulu-made, rotationally moulded PE maintenance-free bowl (Pipelif) are inserted. Our hot tub specialists drill the drain hole in the base, make the stove holes in the side and fit the hoses. Finally the package is gently tipped on its side to fit the drain pipe.

Classic Hot Tub is delivered freight-free to its new happy owner, who only needs a water hose, firewood and fire-making tools. The new owner should ensure the tub stands level so the water settles evenly. Installation instructions are included, but in practice you only need to attach the stove to the hoses on a level base using hose clamps, screw in the stove drain valve and off you go.

Improved seating comfort in the rotationally moulded bowl — also for taller bathers

The maintenance-free, rotationally moulded PE bowl comes from almost next door — Pipelif in Oulu. At their factory the plastic granules are placed in a mould which rotates in an oven for about an hour. After cooling the bowl is ready to be moved to Hyvän Kaupan Paikka’s production line.

We paid special attention to seating comfort when designing the bowl. The sides are not vertical, leaving a wedge-shaped insulating air gap between the bowl and the rim panels which is kinder to the bather’s back. Our rims are generally higher than other manufacturers’, so taller bathers’ shoulders sit below the water surface and the neck stays warm. Seat comfort is top-class and legs won’t be cramped despite the height — the bench is not too low.

Super-efficient marine aluminium stove

Our marine aluminium stoves are made in Finland. The powerful 35 kW stove handles even sea water — suitable for both fresh and brackish water. Carefully chosen materials make the stove a top product. Marine aluminium conducts heat well; the stove’s front plate is stainless steel and the glass hatch lets you check the fire without opening the door. The stove package includes two metres of chimney pipe and a rain cap; for extra pipe, a chimney guard or spark arrestor see the accessories list.

Note that chlorine is not recommended with marine aluminium as it oxidises the metal. We recommend frequent water changes and using active oxygen tablets (see accessories). Active oxygen treats the water for about 24 hours; after that the water can be reused for watering plants since it contains no added chemicals and is safer for children. Non-oxidised water easily forms a slimy ring on the tub edges, but active oxygen prevents this.

Easy maintenance with little effort

The Classic Hot Tub won’t suffer a frozen base thanks to the 45 cm Styrox insulation which prevents cold reaching the bottom and helps keep the water warmer. The delivery includes a plastic cover which significantly reduces heat loss. A well-heated tub can be reheated the next morning with a single load of firewood.

There is also warmth in the Lunawood heat-treated pine panels that finish the tub’s look. You do not need to treat the pine if you prefer the silvery-grey weathered look over time. If you want to keep the brown tone, treat the surface annually with wood oil. The plastic bowl is maintenance-free — with no moulded seams dirt has nowhere to gather. Remember to clean the bowl surfaces when changing the water; this is easy with regular detergents. More meticulous users may occasionally disinfect the bowl but remember to dispose of wastewater correctly.
