For sale: a route-sled “Mercedes” in very good condition for its age and mileage!


  • Driven just over 13,900 km.

  • Model year 2012.

  • About 1,500 km added this winter.

  • No defects that affect driving.

  • This is not a bare-bones model—features include a plastic skid plate and KYB shock absorbers.

  • According to previous owner(s) (receipts are not available for most work as maintenance was mainly done privately; some receipts exist): track mat replaced at around 8,000–9,000 km; in November 2024 the following were replaced/serviced: fuel filters (BRP), chaincase oil, RAVE valves cleaned, clutch spring replaced (BRP), variator spring, QRS rollers (OEM), intake bellows (OEM, Bling-Factory), shock absorber service.

  • This winter: chaincase oil and other fluids checked (no leaks); a small in-line fuel filter was replaced. Clutches cleaned/checked/adjusted and a new drive belt fitted.

  • To my knowledge the engine has not been opened.

  • Front wind deflector slightly cracked on one side. Not in the field of view and neatly repaired.

  • Engine: 594 cm³, petrol, 84 kW

Defects and other observations

  • The sled once triggered the engine warning light in very cold weather after being briefly in a water-filled ditch early in the season. At the time it seemed a little water had entered the fuel system because it didn't run completely normally in severe cold (with a cold engine). When the engine warmed up and the sled was switched off the warning light went out and there were no further problems. The warning light has not come on in the last month or two. The fact nobody pursued extensive checks probably shows the issue's limited scope and effect on riding.

  • One belt broke in severe cold; the primary clutches were then cleaned/adjusted/inspected by a professional. Since the service there have been no problems and the replacement belt has a few hundred kilometres on it.

  • There is a crack in the plastic of one handguard. It stays in place and is serviceable.

  • D.E.S.S. sometimes says it cannot connect to the sled when starting. A tiny twist of the key/fob (a millimetre or so) makes it OK. It has never occurred while riding and is a fairly common quirk on machines of this age/mileage.

  • Small scratch on the instrument cluster.

  • Normal wear consistent with age and kilometres.

  • The spare variator belt shown in the picture is in very poor condition/partly broken. You can take it if you want. The homemade tow hook shown in the photo is not included in the sale.

  • The mudflap is partly broken and secured on one side with a cable tie. It's been done neatly, so it may not be obvious in the photos. It held up all winter.

  • There are probably a few minor faults not mentioned, but they don't affect the value of this kit.
