The following has been found about the car:
Outside before starting, the oil was checked with the dipstick. The dipstick did not get wet. No leak is visible under the car.-Engine turned with a ratchet wrench. Turns.-Added 2 litres of oil to the engine. The dipstick came halfway up.-Started, and it ran.

Smokes heavily, driven slowly into the workshop.-Oil checked again with the dipstick, dipstick dry.
-Intercooler removed. Half full of oil.-Turbo intake hose removed. Very oily.-Exhaust connection removed from the DPF. Inspected inside the DPF with a camera. Half full of oil.

It therefore seems that the turbo has failed. The DPF would need to be removed to determine how much play there is in the turbo shaft.
DPF removed. It was confirmed that the turbo shaft is broken. Parts are in the boot.
