The car was damaged at the factory while being transported on a car carrier.

The factory decided not to put the car up for sale, but a Finnish man managed to buy it in Germany and had it repaired, after which he brought it to Finland. The car was registered in Finland with a new chassis number (i.e. it has only ever been registered in Finland) and has practically been in the same person's possession ever since.

The paintwork has been rather poor (on the roof, bonnet and boot lid); the car has only minor surface rust and has never been welded.
