Subaru Outback, 2010, Pori

Inspected. Inspection valid until 2/2027. The car is fully roadworthy, but is currently off the road. Sold for repair - I don’t have the skills.

Three yellow warning lights came on at the same time in the Subaru: engine management light (Check Engine), ABS light, and traction control light (VDC/TRAC).

The fault codes were read and these were found:

*P2565 Turbocharger boost control position sensor A, high circuit (fault that is likely causing this chain reaction).

*C0057 - Engine control module, steering system

*C0042 and C0242 - ECU supply voltage

*C0231 ECM communication fault with parking brake

*C0281 Damping mode

*U1600 – LIN data link (RLS) fault

After several garage visits, replacement of various parts, and checks, the situation is that the warning lights sometimes appear and sometimes disappear by themselves. So the fault is still present and now it usually comes back immediately when the accelerator is pressed a few times. In the photos you can see the dashboard when starting the car (warning lights are off) and after a few firmer presses of the accelerator (warning lights on). When the warning lights are on, cruise control does not work; otherwise there are no complaints. And when the lights disappear, everything works as it should.

The car was last serviced on 12/6/2026 (oil change, filters, air conditioning service) and at the same time the ride height adjuster was also replaced as a precaution. Since then, with the warning lights still occasionally coming on, the informed estimate from the garage is that the fault points to the original turbo boost pressure controller or its sensor (P2565). The actuator does move when the car is started and when the accelerator is pressed once, but after that it no longer moves at all. The actuator sensor does not seem to be readily available separately. So the likely solution is replacing the turbo.

As I don’t have the skills and keeping the car in the workshop costs money, the car is being sold on. You, with the motivation and skills, will get a good vehicle here. The car is in very good driving condition. Among other things, the front headlamps were replaced a year ago, and I’ll swear there are few Subarus of this age in Finland with headlamps this good. The car has otherwise been well cared for - despite the dog hair. And included are one-year-old studded winter tyres (Nanking SW-9, 215/65R16). Both wheel sets are on Subaru’s own rims.
