Opel Astra Sports Tourer 1.4 Turbo (2014) – Recently inspected practical estate with a little background noise!

A freshly inspected and regularly serviced estate that will add a little excitement and workshop time to your life? Here goes a diamond of an Opel to a new home, otherwise in great shape but lacking a fatherly hand and a spanner

This car is definitely no abandoned problem case, quite the opposite! The Astra has just passed its inspection, so the official blessing from the inspector has been freshly put on paper. The car has also been well cared for and serviced regularly; the latest service was carried out very recently in April. The new owner also does not need to head straight to the tyre shop, as it comes with two nearly new sets of tyres on their own rims – their value alone is already significant. As this is a genuine practical estate, there is easily room for the whole family, weekend hobby gear and those obligatory IKEA bags.

Notes:
When the speed is 50 km/h or more, the car starts making a howling sound. Maybe it misses the factory in Germany, maybe not. The car was inspected by a professional, and the verdict was the following blunt little poem:

"Wheel bearings, brakes all ok. The sound is clearly heard on the lift from the gearbox bearings; the oil was drained into a container and there was glitter in it. --> Gearbox needs to be replaced/bearings renewed."

So the gearbox oil is apparently trying to throw its own disco (glitter was found), meaning the box needs either new bearings or a replacement used unit. Otherwise the mechanics run nicely! So this is a great car for a DIY-minded person or someone who knows a cheap repairer for the long haul.
