Evella acoustic interior panels are a quick, effortless way to create a modern, architectural look. Panels suited to Scandinavian style form a seamless slatted wall surface and significantly improve room acoustics.

The panel backing felt is 100% recycled PET polyester fibre, specially developed to reduce noise levels and cut room reverberation. MDF slats fixed onto the felt are finished with real wood veneer for a natural, attractive surface. Installation can be done with the supplied screws or with adhesive purchased separately.

How it works
A slatted acoustic panel reduces sound in two ways:

• The felt acts as an absorbing material that takes up sound

• The slats and their gaps scatter sound by diffraction, sending it in different directions

Although a slatted panel does not absorb sound as much as a conventional absorber, it often produces a more balanced and natural acoustic, especially in living spaces. The difference can be heard in clearer speech and reduced echo from sharp sounds, such as bangs.

Natural listening environment
The panel’s natural effect comes from some sound being reflected by the slats and scattered more gently. This shortens reverberation time and makes the room less echoey, improving comfort for living and working. In speech, listeners have less reverberant sound to process and can hear more clearly, which helps for example with hearing impairments.

Tip! You can easily test a room’s reverberation by clapping your hands once in different spots – in a live room you will hear how long the reverberation lingers.

Installation
Panels are easiest to screw directly to battens. Horizontal battens are recommended for concrete walls. The supplied black drywall screws blend into the felt, and extra screws are readily available from DIY stores.

If you want to extend the absorption to slightly lower frequencies – for example for music listening – you can:

• Fit the panel off the wall on battens so sound does not reflect back immediately after passing through the felt, creating multiple interfaces

• Add mineral wool between the battens to increase absorption. The wool or an acoustic panel placed behind can even be second‑hand and scruffy, as it is hidden

You can also mount the panel directly over partition insulation without plasterboard, but in that case the effect is limited to the room interior. The downside is that sound transmits more easily to adjacent rooms and the panel will not provide as effective sound insulation as a full plasterboard layer.

Practicality
Evella panels offer an easy way to finish large surfaces without demolition or plastering work. They are suitable for walls and ceilings and install quickly.
