Now up for auction is a tidy and economical Finnish-delivery Volvo S40 1.6 D manual, with its MOT valid well into 09/02/2027. Volvo’s 1.6-litre diesel engine is known for very low fuel consumption and affordable running costs, making this an effortless and economical everyday car for a long time yet.

For its age, the body is in a reasonably presentable and tidy condition. Naturally, there is some stone chipping at the front and the right front bumper has damage, shown in more detail in the listing. The interior is generally tidy, but shows signs of use: the driver’s seat side bolster and centre armrest have splits/tears, also visible in the photos. Comfort is provided by the working air conditioning, and no warning lights are illuminated on the dashboard.

On the test drive, the car otherwise felt presentable and functional, but a knocking noise was noticed at the front while driving (play in the suspension/joints). We have not investigated the cause of the noise in greater detail. The car comes with good-tread summer tyres on Volvo’s original alloy wheels.
