Volvo V70, 2010, Pori

Now at auction: the legendary Volvo V70 2.4i, that famous "god engine" – a naturally aspirated inline five that has made Volvo enthusiasts smile for decades. This very aerodynamically shaped brick is now looking for a new hero of the road. Could that be you?

The good stuff:

God engine

More space than the average studio flat

Carries dogs, cats and parents-in-law

Features developed over time (some call them faults)

The power steering has retired; requires either speed or strength.

The ABS light is on, meaning one of the Christmas lights is already suitably illuminated.

The brakes are very worn, but still grab.

The summer tyres are worn out. Drivable, but liable to a fine.

The starter jumps when starting.

The electric tailgate keeps practising opening, but locking is not currently one of its strengths.

Plenty of rust on the metal at the top edge of the windscreen.

Who would this car suit?

This car suits anyone.

But not just anyone suits this car.

So be the rare, chosen one to whom this honour is granted. Bid now and get at least a god engine with a transport box.

Test drive: The car drives OK. It performs in line with its mileage. Note that the power steering is not working, making turning difficult, especially at low speeds; the brakes only bite properly when the brake pedal is pressed harder.

Mechanics: Power steering does not work. The brakes only engage when the brake pedal is pressed firmly, but they do work. The ABS light is on; the fault has not been diagnosed. The windscreen is also cracked.

Tyres: Tread is below the legal limit. Alloys are good, see pictures. Please note: no additional tyres or wheels.

Interior: In OK condition for its age and mileage. See pictures.

Body condition: Good considering the mileage, with no major body rust. The worst visible rust is at the roof and windscreen junction; see pictures.

Servicing: See pictures.
