Knaus Südwind 540, model year 1991.

The caravan’s inspection expired in 2024, but I see no reason why it would not pass when inspected.

The lights, indicators and brakes work.

The caravan was in use right up until the present day; the previous owner travelled to the Lapland region every year.

It has only been stationary for the last two years, although according to the previous owner it has occasionally been moved from one place to another.

Primus 2470 liquid-circulation heating, works on electricity and gas.

The water, electrical and gas systems work.

We have not run the water, but the pump starts when the tap is opened. The hob works with both burners (on gas). The refrigerator was replaced about five years ago and works on gas and electricity; it cooled down when we tested it.

The interior is in very tidy condition for its age. The seats are intact and firm, as are the cupboards and other touch surfaces, although signs of use are inevitably present.

There are seating areas at the front and rear that can be converted into beds. The caravan comfortably sleeps 4–6 people.

There is plenty of storage space, with room for even more belongings.

There is no smell of mould, damp or anything else unpleasant in the caravan, although the front wall feels soft.

The front wall gives way when pressed; we have not inspected it further. It does not give through or feel rotten!

From the outside, it is perfectly presentable, as can be seen in the photos. You can enlarge the photos to see clearly that this is a well-kept caravan for its age.

The previous owner repaired the front corner on the right-hand side (see photos). The damp or cosmetic damage is mainly on the gas locker side, so it does not affect living in the caravan.

However, the caravan is not rotten or beyond saving, and it is worth starting to improve it. Although it has some drawbacks, it also has many advantages.

It is usable as it is, as the caravan does not smell, etc. Once inspected, it is ready for trips!

It would nevertheless be worth repairing, as with probably a little effort during the dark autumn evenings, you could work wonders and make the caravan even better. Even as it stands, it is in very good condition for its age.
