2nd and 3rd gear crunches (and through the splitter also 4th and 6th). It does not always do it, so it is probably related to the synchronisers and therefore dependent on differences in rotational speed?

The batteries in the crane remote control are in rather poor condition.

The trailer sockets need replacing.
