An Audi A3 that has just reached legal adulthood is on offer for a VAG-oriented do-it-yourselfer. There is work to be done here, but it does run in basic terms and has roadworthiness until early next year. There seems to be a fluid leak somewhere because it warns about low fluid level. The oil level sensor also gives an error even though there is oil in the engine. Some bulbs are blown. There is some work to do on the body if you want it tidy, as the photos already show. The windscreen will definitely need replacing before the next inspection. The mirror adjustment works somewhat intermittently; could it be a switch fault? Probably if you dig around, you may find some other things to sort out as well.


BUT: there is good news too. The engine and gearbox seem to work quite well, and the interior is truly excellent! The car also has a very good service history, as can be seen from the service book photos, so this is a good base to continue from. Summer tyres are in decent condition on the car's own alloy wheels. With a reasonable amount of work, a home mechanic can still make a good runabout out of this; the car is certainly worth the effort, even though there is work to be done.
