Society has rules about where you can build a sauna. There is a solution: the barrel sauna with a front terrace can practically be placed almost anywhere. Of course it makes sense to place it on your own land to avoid disputes over ownership. Though the barrel sauna is small, its steam is generous. The sauna’s round shape directs the steam very differently to a traditional sauna. Your toes won’t get cold and the steam does not rush at you sharply. The round form is pleasing to the eye and lifts the mood. Shout “Barrel sauna with front terrace” and join the barrel-sauna gang!

Sauna for difficult sites

Barrel saunas are lightweight and can still be moved after the first steam sessions. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a firm gravel bed is that it has support feet under the barrel that keep the sauna off the ground and allow easy relocation. The lack of heavy, permanent foundations makes siting the sauna easier — many use a barrel sauna as a beach sauna since you can’t build a fixed foundation right on the shoreline. You can of course place the barrel sauna on a deck or pour a concrete base, but siting is largely down to imagination. Still, remember to check the base with a spirit level so the sauna stands straight. The idea isn’t to move the sauna while you’re mid-steam.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or a tractor linkage using slings. A sauna moved to the beach for summer can easily be moved closer to the cottage or house for winter with the help of a neighbouring farmer.

Small space wonder

The wooden sauna capsule fits 4–6 bathers depending on rear size and comfort preference. Quality benches pamper bathers with their warm tone. The Harvia M3 stove provides gentle heat and, through the glass hatch, the fire’s playful glow dances on the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the barrel. If the air feels thin you don’t need to end the session — simply open the door briefly to let in plenty of fresh air.

Greywater handled

The optional Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter removes greywater worries: water run through the filter can be safely released back into nature and you won’t get fined by building control for environmental breaches.

Almost shoulder-lift delivery

We gladly deliver the complete unit to your home yard and you do not need a lifting device if you choose delivery by HIAB truck. However, the barrel sauna with front terrace weighs just 700 kg so you can also pick it up on your own trailer if your vehicle’s towing capacity is sufficient. You could almost shoulder it and carry it home — but not quite. A trailer is better.

The delivery includes everything essential, roofing felt included. At the moment a building permit is still required for erection, but we provide the architect drawings for the permit. The cottage comes with illustrated instructions and you can request the building-permit drawings in advance so when the delivery arrives you can start assembling your new garden sauna straight away. You will need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and patient enthusiasm for assembly. Always read the instructions carefully before starting each work phase.
