A driveline warning appeared while driving, followed by an oil pressure warning. The vehicle was switched off and tried again after some time. The engine ran unevenly, as if not all cylinders were firing. A knocking noise, not previously heard, was also noted. Diagnosis will be performed and a repair estimate presented to the customer.

Troubleshooting / Diagnosis:

• 25 May 2026: Driven into the workshop electrically. Oil filter inspected: badly creased and flow restricted. Considerable metal particles and bearing shell fragments found in the filter. Vehicle diagnostic connection made: fault codes for oil pressure and related systems. Pressure problems began already on 17 April 2026 at 196,374 km. Previous oil change per service history at 147,000 km. Oils have degraded and the filter is clogged/flow restricted, resulting in engine damage. Replacement engine recommended. Customer informed on 27 May 2026 and work suspended.

• 5 June 2026: Requested further clarification of the pressure issue. Fault code 1C0102, first recorded at 196,374 km, refers to oil pressure control. Pressures have been insufficient (however 2650 mbar), which at that stage had not yet produced a fault message or warning light for the driver. The first Check Control oil pressure warning (requesting the vehicle to be stopped) occurred only on 15 May 2026 at 199,023 km.
