Defects and other observations

  • Engine warning light is on (no surprises). Gives fault code P2539. Not investigated further; operates normally.

  • The front passenger door is temperamental: it does not always open from the outside, and if it does open it does not always close. Likely needs a new external handle cable.

  • The driver's-side rear door window does not open.

  • Exterior is fairly rough: paint issues on the bonnet and rust spots around the car. The boot is in good condition and seems least likely to rot first. No rust on the underbody!

  • The car 'jerks' when setting off. Unknown cause — could be a characteristic of this first-generation DSG gearbox. Otherwise the gearbox shifts well and quickly and does not slip.

  • Deregistered: Standard removal 2 May 2026
