Ford Mustang Fastback, 1964, Turku

An extremely rare and valuable K-code Ford Mustang Fastback. The K-code Fastback was the basis on which the first Shelby GT350 models were built. This car’s VIN is 5R09K160104 — the K in the fifth position identifies the K-code. It is considered to be in very good condition, and tens of thousands of euros have been spent on upgrades to its mechanics and drivability. Power-assisted steering with upgraded brakes, and an automatic gearbox replacing the original manual, make this car a significantly better driving experience.

The car was completely repainted before its museum inspection in its original green-tinged “Honey Gold” colour. The shade was only available on 1964 and 1965 Mustang models, making it a very rare classic colour today. The body has been in good condition since it was imported to Finland in the 1980s. Almost everything on the chassis is effectively new — including piping and suspension. The car has been substantially improved overall, and little of the original mechanicals remain. The interior has been retrimmed in keeping with the original black vinyl upholstery.

The car was with the previous owner for approximately 10 years and was not driven in the rain even once during that time. The parts and upgrades fitted have been driven very little over the last decade, which is evident from the kilometres recorded at inspections.

This example is a value-adding investment, with comprehensive documentation and receipts for the work carried out. Rebuilding this car today would cost as much as an ordinary Fastback Mustang, and an equivalent is not easily found on the world market.
