Before use

• After removing the product from its packaging, check for damage. Contact the seller if you find any defects.

• Leave the unit upright for at least 30 minutes. Any oil that may have flowed into the cooling circuit during transport will then flow back into the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Set them before use so the toilet stands firmly and level.

• The toilet is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything non‑compostable in it, e.g. rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used with underfloor heating thanks to its thick base insulation and tall feet. Heat will increase the unit’s electricity consumption, so do not position it immediately next to a radiator or other heat source. Optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. Ensure the toilet is level and secure using its feet.

Use

• Press the biodegradable bag into the bottom of the container and fold its edges over the container so it can be lowered into the toilet seat

• Check that the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close properly

• Plug into the wall socket and switch the toilet on—the green indicator will light

• Wait about one hour before first use

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, replace the bag

• Fold the top edges of the bag into the container and lift the bucket out of the seat

• Compost the waste in a household or garden composter to which you have added plenty of absorbent material before emptying

• Pierce the bag surface (e.g. with a fork) and cover with a layer of dry material

• Check for ice build‑up around the rim of the cooling basin. Defrost and dry the walls if necessary.

Use of dry material
Drying material is not required for a freezing toilet. It is only needed for the subsequent composting stage.

Cleaning
Clean Ekohytte by wiping with a damp cloth. You may use common household cleaners. The container can be removed from the seat and washed with water—dry it before replacing. Do not use water to clean the rear cooling compartment. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.
