Intended use
Carital® OptimaEZ420 is a mattress system for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.

Usage environment and user profile
The Carital® OptimaEZ420 mattress system is intended for use both at home and in healthcare settings (general wards and intensive care). The user may be a healthcare professional or a layperson who has read the instructions for use and understands the basic operating principles and use of the mattress system.

Target patients
The Carital® OptimaEZ420 mattress system is designed for immobile patients at high or very high risk of pressure ulcers. OptimaEZ420 is also suitable for prevention in very high‑risk patients provided the patient is under the assessment and supervision of a healthcare professional experienced in pressure ulcer prevention and treatment. It is also suitable for treating pressure ulcers in categories/stages I–III. Use for category/stage IV pressure ulcers is possible depending on wound location, current risk level and the stage of the patient’s underlying disease. The mattress system is intended for patients weighing 40–200 kg.

Contraindications
The Carital® OptimaEZ420 mattress system should not be used in patients whose lower limbs have been amputated above the mid‑calf.
