For sale: Hyundai Tucson – an adventurous mechanic's dream (or nightmare)
For sale: a car that won't leave anyone cold – mainly because the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree all year. This is genuine Korean engineering from a time when Tucsons were made to last, but this example has decided to test that claim.
Honest condition report: The car is currently "at rest", i.e. the MOT has expired. The dashboard currently features an amateur choir: engine warning light, four-wheel-drive warning light, brake light and traction control light. There's a mysterious knock from the suspension, a good reminder that the road is still under the car. Externally the car has life’s "patina" – dents and marks for those who look (and for those who don't).
Why still worth bidding on? Despite the faults, this is a great donor for parts, a field car or a project for someone who isn't afraid of a fault-code reader. The equipment is actually surprisingly decent:
Comfort: Radio with Bluetooth audio (you can cover the suspension knocks with your favourite music) and working seat heaters.
Winter equipment: Engine block heater, interior heater and an extra front driving lamp brighter than the street lights.
Usability: A tow bar is fitted, so you can tow that trailer to fetch spare parts.
Tyres: Two good sets!
Summary: This Tucson may not win beauty contests or pass inspection on prayers alone, but it has lots of good parts and equipment for someone who needs them. Sold as seen – for transport home by someone who loves a challenge (preferably on a trailer).
Bid here for an honest project!
