BMW 325iX Touring, 1989, Helsinki

A rare opportunity. BMW 325iX Touring from a car enthusiast’s collection.

This is an exceptionally rare BMW E30-bodied car. A BMW 325iX with equipment like this is very rarely available. A special feature is that its original purchase price was higher than that of an M3 from the same year.

The car passed its roadworthiness test in 2025. It has travelled only approx. 230,000 km, which is very little for its age. The car is in original condition, so there are some areas of emerging rust that require repair. Mechanically, it is excellent. It runs like clockwork, the gearbox changes smoothly and the other mechanical systems are in order. The only repair needed is to the front drive shaft: a boot has been split for some time, causing the outer joint to crunch. A used replacement part is included.

The interior has sports leather seats (beige leather). There are some points to note. The outer side bolsters of the driver’s seat require refurbishment. The fabric section of the headlining will probably need to be glued back to the headliner board; it is sagging in places, although the fabric itself is otherwise intact.

The car has air conditioning, which will probably require re-gassing. It has stood unused for several years. The rear brakes were repaired for the roadworthiness test, as were the brake pipes and hoses. Note: the car originally had ventilated rear discs, found only on the Touring iX model when equipped with air conditioning. They are extremely rare and unavailable elsewhere. New BMW ventilated rear discs are included in the boot. We moved four years ago, and the rear callipers and their carrier brackets went missing during the move. They may be on a trailer where we have a complete, loose 325iX drivetrain (186,000 km). This includes the engine, gearbox, transfer case, front and rear differentials, and drive shafts.

This complete drivetrain is included in the sale. In addition, there is another engine in parts that was fitted with a Mosselman turbo kit. We cannot confirm that all parts are present. This is also included in the sale.

The car has other “rarities”. It was specially ordered without a sunroof. We have not seen another 325i without one. Shadowline trim all around. It sits on iX “bottle-top” wheels. For summer, there are extremely rare 15-inch “Kreuzspeichen” wheels, plus another set of 14-inch Kreuzspeichen wheels.

Bidders are strongly encouraged to visit in person and inspect what is being offered. This is an older product in original condition. There is work to do if you want to make it exceptional. As it stands, it is fully usable, however. Many valuable extra parts are included. In our opinion, it is a perfect restoration project for a true enthusiast. Another one like it is unlikely to appear soon.
