A rarer “pappa” model from Tunturi is now available, making it easy to carry your shopping home from the store. This model also stands out well from the other Tunturi mopeds at gatherings. This is a lightly used and well-preserved 1981 Tunturi Lähetti Automat moped.

It had not been ridden for a long time, having been stored in a warm garage. It started well on old petrol, but the fuel tap began leaking when opened after the long period of disuse. The clean tank has now been drained of petrol. Replacing the tap is nevertheless a cheap and easy repair to do yourself. The engine runs and changes gear as it should, the brakes hold and the shock absorbers work. The light switch changes correctly, and the horn and kill switch work. The rear light did not come on during testing, possibly due to a faulty bulb.

In every respect, a sound moped for its age of 45 years. The same engine originally fitted at the factory is still in the frame; the frame and engine numbers therefore match!

The usable Leijona tyres are fitted, possibly still the original factory-fitted tyres.

The moped was delivered new to Vantaa on 14 August 1981, from where the current owner collected it from an elderly gentleman nearly 15 years ago. This Tunturi has not been ridden hard by youngsters.

The moped is “laid up” for insurance purposes, meaning it has been temporarily removed from road use. It can be put back into road use if the winning bidder wishes, but this must be agreed when the buyer calls to arrange collection of the Tunturi. Collection during the week following the end of the auction, by 25 October 2026, after which storage costs €50 per commenced week!
