Matti's Honda Accord has seen more of life than many people. The odometer shows an impressive 450,000 kilometres, and Matti has managed to drive this car to the moon and back several times – almost, at least.

The car served Matti loyally for years, but age and mileage are now beginning to show in the mechanics too. The automatic gearbox has decided that life does not always have to move forwards. First and second work brilliantly, but it no longer shifts above third gear.

Matti has tried being nice, slightly less nice and, no doubt, discussing the matter with the gearbox, but without success. The Honda has made its decision.

So here is a legendary Accord for its next owner, with 450,000 km behind it and surely plenty of stories left for the future. A good project, parts car or even something for the yard to remind you how far Japanese engineering can go at its best.

-12 V battery is dead; jump leads are required to start
