Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2015 – in good condition and working

The car is in good working condition and everything currently works normally. There are no warning lights on the dashboard.

The car has been used by my wife for under a year, mainly for taking the children to school and back. As the family grew, we needed a 7-seater, so this car became surplus and is now for sale.

Inspection

The inspection passed successfully on 4.8.2026, so it is valid for a long time.

At the first inspection, the reasons for failure were:

• play in the ball joint of the front lower control arm

• crack in the windscreen

The ball joint was replaced and the windscreen renewed, after which the car passed inspection.

Servicing

The car has been serviced regularly every year from the start, only at an authorised Mitsubishi service centre. A full service book is included in the attachments. The annual service was done on 3.9.2026. Since then the car has been driven less than 200 km, so around 18,800 km remains until the next annual service.

Battery capacity

The car still has its original traction battery, which is now over 10 years old. The battery capacity is currently about 63%.

On a full charge, it currently goes about 30 km on electric power, of which about 23 km has been at 80 km/h on the road. In this kind of driving the battery drains significantly faster. In city driving, electric range is longer.

Without charging the battery, the average consumption has been about 7.7 l/100 km.

Last winter the car gave a warning twice in very cold weather, estimated at below -25 °C. A yellow engine warning light and battery warning light came on in the instrument panel. However, the car did not stop or lose functionality, but continued to operate normally. The warnings cleared the same day and have not returned since.

The issue was checked with a workshop, which assessed that the battery is no longer in like-new condition, but that replacing it was not urgent in their opinion. Since then the car has worked normally without warnings.

If very severe frosts occur again next winter, replacing the battery may still be a sensible future measure.

Tyres

The summer tyres have plenty of tread left. The winter tyres are almost like new. Both sets come on clean and intact alloy wheels.

Brakes

At the latest service it was noted that the brake pads should be replaced after a few thousand kilometres. They still had some life left, so they were not replaced during the service. Replacing them may therefore be due at the next service.

Summary

Aside from these two matters – the battery and the possibly soon-to-be-replaced brake pads – I am not currently aware of anything else in the car that requires special attention.

Despite its age, this is a working and usable Outlander PHEV. When taking into account the car’s age and the battery’s current condition, it is sensible to allow for a few hundred euros of near-term maintenance. After that, the car can still have many years of use ahead.
