Audi S5, 2014, Kirkkonummi

The car was recently driven from Jyväskylä to Kirkkonummi. It is being put up for auction because the following faults were found during Vagen's inspections:

Vagen inspected the car and these are the observations:

1. The engine timing chain is noisy

2. The exhaust resonates and vibrates, especially

- The flex section of the right exhaust is faulty

- The resonator of the right exhaust is broken

The flex section needs to be replaced

3. Catalytic converters inspected with an endoscope

- Damage in front of the right catalytic converter

- The left one appears intact

4. The dual-mass flywheel was removed and tested for its effect on engine vibration at idle

- The engine still vibrates even with only the drive plate fitted

- The dual-mass flywheel is noisy and therefore needs to be replaced, but it does not affect the vibration

5. The engine mounts were checked

- The engine was unloaded so the mounts were free, no effect on vibration.

6. The engine operation and sensor data were further checked with a diagnostic tool

- The knock sensor readings for cylinder one differ from the other sensors

- Injector leakage and spark plugs were checked

- No fault found

7. Compression and leak-down test carried out on the engine

Measured compression pressures: 1-cyl 11 BAR 2-cyl 11 BAR 3-cyl 11 BAR 4-cyl 11 BAR 5-cyl 11 BAR 6-cyl 11 BAR Measured leak-down: 1-cyl 35%, steam blows out of the oil filler cap, and a draught can be felt by hand. 2-cyl 19% No significant blow-by from the oil filler cap. 3-cyl 10% No significant blow-by from the oil filler cap. 4-cyl 18% No significant blow-by from the oil filler cap. 5-cyl 20% No significant blow-by from the oil filler cap. 6-cyl 10% No significant blow-by from the oil filler cap. 1-cyl has clearly more blow-by than the other cylinders. And it is blowing into the crankcase, so the fault may be in the piston, piston rings or cylinder, for example. Has the car used a lot of oil?
