This is a car that won’t be scared off by mileage. The odometer shows a manly 570,000 km, and the journey goes on! It has just been through its inspection and got a fresh pass stamped on the paper, so there is a year of worry-free driving ahead. This early-2000s P2-body workhorse was built for heavy use, and it shows.

Mechanically solid, emissions like new

The engine’s internal condition is rock solid. The inspection emissions test produced figures like those on the paperwork (CO 0.00%, HC 9 ppm!) that would make a weaker soul nervous. The catalytic converter works perfectly and the engine runs exactly as it should.

Full of character and patina

This is not a factory-fresh example, but a car that has seen life. It passed inspection, but the inspector left a few things for next year (repair notices by 09/2026):

* Sill rust: Finnish road salt has left its mark. Will need a bit of bodywork in the future.

* Oil leaks: Slight seepage to the outside. It doesn’t leak, it just marks its territory and rust-protects the underbody automatically.

* Illegal tint on the rear lights: The dark film drew comments. Rip it off yourself, or enjoy the amista style a little longer.

Other things for the new owner to note:

* Suspension: The left front shock absorber is already very soft (damping difference 51%, passed by a whisker)

* Lighting: 2 mm stone chip in the left front headlamp. It didn’t bother the inspector, and only adds ventilation to the unit if you forget to tape it.

This is a car for someone who appreciates a properly run-in Volvo and isn’t put off by a bit of fettling. It gets you comfortably from point A to point B in any weather.
