Fairly tidy Kia Ceed.

  • The car has been owned and used by my daughter. Last spring the automatic transmission started acting up. The gearbox jerks and goes into fault mode, in which case only 3rd gear works. When the car has stood still for a while, the gearbox works normally again. Lately the fault has recurred almost daily. The previous owner of the car replaced the transmission solenoid and the engine timing chain.

  • The car’s inspection had quietly expired and when I took the car for inspection, it failed due to the engine warning light being on, the rear brakes and the battery mounting (see the inspection certificate in the photos). The car must have a bottom-mounted battery and I replaced it with one. The engine valves rattle at idle, but it has not affected driving. We did not start repairing the car because my daughter no longer needs a car.

  • The car has Chinese Westlake summer tyres bought last spring on alloy wheels, and fairly decent Nokia Nordman winter tyres.

The engine warning light is on. The rear brakes are probably worn out. Since the car has now been standing for a couple of weeks, the brakes are squealing. Battery disconnected, but another battery has been fitted and is now connected. Fault in the automatic transmission.
