    Features of the forestry model.

The Valmet 05 series was originally designed with forestry use strongly in mind, and the factory-fitted or later upgraded "forestry model" includes the following benefits:

  • Forestry cab: The cab floor is flat, and there is enough space for a swivel seat. The operator can work facing backwards, for example when using a log loader.

  • Flat underside: The tractor lacks protrusions that could catch easily, and the tank is protected inside the frame, preventing damage when driving over stumps.

  • Agile dimensions: The short wheelbase makes the machine very manoeuvrable in boggy ground and dense thinning forests, despite four-wheel drive.

  • Sige front axle: The 1989 models have a durable Sige front axle and a tight turning radius.

Defects and other observations

There is an electrical fault in the loader and harvester, and not all functions work perfectly. The fault has not been investigated further. The loader works mechanically and the movements operate correctly. The harvester computer starts up, but the electrical faults have not been investigated. In the Valmet, the brake fluid reservoir leaks and the brakes do not work. The handbrake works.
