🇸🇪 Up for auction: a road cruiser and a DIY mechanic’s dream – Volvo XC90 D5 Executive (2011)
Looking for a car that fits half a football team, the mother-in-law, and still has room to tow a decent two-tonne caravan? Here we have a true everyday hero and king of the road: Volvo XC90 D5, model year 2011.
The odometer shows a modest 330,000 kilometres. As Volvo owners know, that means the Swedish armoured tank has only just been properly run in! The car was brought from Germany to Finnish roads in 2015, and has been serviced regularly and with care.
✨ Executive trim:
This example does not have the basic entry-level options ticked, but the equipment list is frankly impressive!
Room for everyone: 7 seats ensure nobody has to walk.
Comfort first: Luxury Executive leather seats. Both front seats are electrically adjustable, and the driver also gets memory settings.
Winter saviour: Webasto with timer keeps you from freezing or scraping the windows in the morning. Studded tyres on their own rims (tread a healthy 8 mm).
Summer pleasures: Sunroof open and off towards the sunset! The summer tyres are practically new and mounted on their own rims.
Practicality: Tow bar with a braked towing capacity of 2250 kg.
Safety and technology: Factory navigation system, parking sensors, cruise control, Xenon cornering lights and a powerful LED auxiliary light, so you can spot moose from the next county.
🔧 Mechanics and servicing
The car has been comprehensively serviced since new. Even the inspection station has given its blessing, and the next inspection is not due until February 2027!
Timing belt + water pump replaced 09/2025 (at 313,000 km). Summer tyres are practically new, on alloy wheels. Winter tyres are studded, 8 mm tread, on alloy wheels.
🛠️ Faults (because honesty is the best policy)
As this is no longer a factory-fresh example, life has left this gentleman with a few cosmetic and technical marks. The body has normal wear and some scratches, and the windscreen has a crack. The interior, however, is in really tidy condition for its age!
The following technical faults have been noted and need attention:
At a workshop, the repairs would cost an estimated €2,900 (picture attached). But if you can handle tools and are not afraid of a small weekend project in the garage, you can order the parts yourself online and save a huge sum of money!
Here is a great project for the winning bidder, with excellent equipment, major servicing already done, and two sets of very good tyres. With a little work, this could be a loyal companion for hundreds of thousands more kilometres.
Who will bid first? Grab yourself a fine example of Swedish engineering!
