Renault Laguna, 1998, Loviisa

Due to changed plans, the Laguna project is looking for a new appreciative owner.

The car is especially tidy inside; the dashboard is intact and there are no screw holes. The paintwork is apparently original, and the windscreen is in good condition. Features include a tow bar, two sets of tyres, with the summer set on original 14" alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and the original radio cassette player with steering column remote control.

Timing belt and spark plugs replaced 12/25.

2 keys, the remote for one does not work. Not checked whether it just needs a battery.

Negatives:
Failed the inspection when cold, rejected due to rust damage. At least the rear ends of the sills, a couple of patches elsewhere on the sills/floor and the crossmembers under the front footwells are rusted through. The subframe has rust holes and needs replacing. The rear brake pipe is corroded.

The exhaust leaks, otherwise emissions are fine.

There are no major paint defects or stone chips, but there is a paint scratch and a light dent at the lower edge of the right rear door.

Included is a healthy-bodied estate Laguna from 2000, from which all needed sheet metal can be cut for this car, and an intact subframe is also included loose. It can be fitted as is, though it should of course be cleaned first, especially if you intend to make it a daily driver. Also included are interior parts, mainly from the dashboard, and the doors removed from the estate. Note: this donor car is not rolling, as the front axle assembly has been dismantled. It has a 1.8 16V engine + 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine runs by spraying fuel into the intake; the tank pump does not build pressure. It also has automatic climate control, which is easy to transfer to this hatchback. An intact used exhaust system is also included.

So this is a 90s car in need of gentle attention, something you hardly see anymore. For a knowledgeable enthusiast, this is a project for the coming winter that will reward you next summer as a hobby car, offering a pleasant drive.
