Defects and other observations

During a short test drive, we made the following observations:


-The mechanic's notes are as follows:

"Fault codes P0301 and P0303. The spark plug in cylinder 1 is stuck, and we did not dare force it open so it would not break. In cylinders 2 and 3, the piston tops are clean and moist, meaning some liquid is leaking into the cylinders. The expansion tank is almost empty. After starting, the exhaust smelled like coolant."

Based on this, it is likely that either the head gasket has failed or the cylinder head is cracked. There is a major risk that if the spark plug in cylinder 1 is forced out, it will break, and then head work will certainly be needed. When the car was brought in, it was running on fewer cylinders, and when revved it ran more or less normally.’’
