For sale: a slightly quicker runabout.


The car was originally a 1.6 (75 hp / 56 kW), which in 2011 was converted to a newer late‑90s 1.6 and turbocharged (GTi suspension/brakes fitted at the same time). Paperwork currently shows 90.6 kW.

After the engine failed, it was fitted in 2019 with a 1.8 16V KR engine (139 hp / 103.6 kW), which is also turbocharged.

Turbo: Mitsubishi TD04 (IHI) with intercooler, 630 cc injectors, Megasquirt MS2 Version 3 engine management and an Innovate wideband lambda. Standard underbody, condition checked in 2019.

Boost limited by a wastegate to 0.7 bar.

Inside: FK reclining bucket seats and GTi instruments (tachometer not working).

Weitec adjustable suspension (documented).

Drilled brake discs front and rear. Front discs are the larger 256 mm versions.

New windscreen and new battery.

Not a low‑emission model.

The 1.8 engine has not been officially registered as a conversion, but I have had the car inspected with it without any remarks.

Fitted with new tyres on ATS Cup wheels.

The car is not an original GTI.

Inspection valid until 14 August 2026.

This is a 36‑year‑old car, so it is not a new vehicle, but it is tidy for its age.
