The ready-to-use freezing toilet needs no water connection, drain or ventilation installation. You only need a mains socket. Portability and plug & play installation make it an ideal choice for summer cottages and any space without drains. The oval 21‑litre inner container fits a biodegradable bag that can be removed hygienically for composting.

Outstanding energy efficiency
Ekohytte Frost has been designed with energy economy in mind. Optimised compressor technology and extra-thick insulation make the unit extremely energy‑efficient. Ekohytte Frost consumes only 0.36 kWh per 24 h, roughly half the consumption of comparable competing products. The thick base insulation and tall adjustable feet allow installation on underfloor‑heated floors; the freezing toilet should be placed in a heated indoor space.

Before use

• After removing the product from its packaging, check it for damage. Contact the seller if you notice any damage.

• Leave the unit upright for at least half an hour. Any oil that moved into the cooling circuit during transport will then flow back into the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Set them before use so that the toilet stands firmly and level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything non‑compostable in it, e.g. rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used on underfloor‑heated floors thanks to the thick base insulation and tall feet. Heat increases the unit's power consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to a radiator or other heat source. Optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. Place the toilet level and secure it using its feet.

Use

• Press the base of the bio‑bag into the inner bucket and fold the top of the bag over the bucket so the bucket can be placed in the toilet seat

• Ensure the bucket handle is inside so the seat and lid close properly

• Plug the unit into the mains and switch it on so the green indicator lights

• Wait about an hour before use

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, the bio‑bag should be replaced

• Fold the top of the bag into the bucket and lift the bucket out of the seat

• Compost the waste in a household or garden composter to which you have added plenty of bulking material before emptying

• Roughen the bag surface, e.g. with a garden fork, and cover with a layer of bulking material

• Check for ice build‑up around the lower edges of the bucket. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

• Fit a new bag

Use of bulking material
Bulking material is not needed in a freezing toilet. Add bulking material only for post‑composting.

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the inner container and cooling compartment

• Leave the lid open

• The unit can be stored in an unheated space
