We sell on behalf of our customer: for repair or dismantling, petrol–CNG Ford C‑Max 2.0, year 2009.

The car began to show symptoms when starting the engine: the engine would start normally but after a short while the running became heavy, an engine fault appeared on the dash and the engine stalled. The engine could then sometimes restart normally and run without symptoms for several weeks. At first the fault was so intermittent that the workshop had difficulty reproducing it. When the problem became more frequent and was observed in the workshop, the engine management fault memory occasionally showed missing engine speed information. When cranking the engine the signal was, however, logical and continuous.

Based on the symptoms and fault codes, repairs were carried out in a logical order. First the crankshaft position sensor was replaced and the pulse wheel inspected, after which the symptom disappeared for a while. The car soon returned, however.

Long story short: the car has had, among other things, the following work carried out: two ignition coils replaced, their wiring checked, engine bay and ECU wiring looms inspected, crankshaft position sensor replaced twice, instrument cluster PCB inspected and re‑soldered, interior fusebox control unit checked, engine‑to‑body grounding points checked and extra grounding installed. The CNG control unit has also been disconnected.

We also prepared to replace a camshaft position sensor, but this engine type does not have one.

With the customer we agreed to sell the car as‑is – without a reserve, to the highest bidder. The symptom is currently static; the engine may run briefly but the car will not move under its own power in any case.

We are confident the fault is confined to the area between the front and rear sections. We hope the car will be useful to its next owner, whether a DIY restorer or a dismantler for spare parts.

Otherwise the car has a good service and maintenance history. It is basicly equipped: manual air conditioning, manual gearbox, electric front windows, remote locking with two keys. The interior is tidy and intact, but dusty. The exterior is acceptable; the red paint has faded in the sun, with small rust spots for example around the rear wheel arches. The car will be handed over with the studded tyres shown below, in good condition. One wheel cover is missing. All parts removed from the car are included.

The car will therefore be sold automatically to the highest bidder without reserve. Handover can be arranged quite flexibly, but prompt collection is, of course, appreciated.

Hidden faults have not been inspected – surprises are likely, but we hope they are pleasant rather than unpleasant.
