The car failed last autumn's inspection due to CO and HC emissions at high revs. Since then the catalytic converter, valve stem seals, the crankcase breather system under the inlet manifold and the spark plugs have been replaced. Today I ran an emissions test and the CO value was still too high. The mechanic estimated that the piston rings may still need replacing.


I'm no longer interested in taking the engine apart, so this is a good car for someone handy with repairs. Also replaced before the previous inspection: brake booster (per seller's choice), front wishbone control arm, thermostat and power steering pump package (per seller's choice). Fitted with 225/50/17 tyres on BMW rims, production code "3324" — only a few trips, so practically new; winter tyres also on BMW rims. One winter tyre is in poor condition.
