What does the inspection inspector want you to do next?

The inspection runs out in June 2026, and to get a new sticker the car needs a bit of DIY and the use of a spanner. Here are our honest observations and the inspection items to get this back to being a long‑term companion:

• Loud front wheel bearing: There is a speed‑dependent knock/whine diagnosed at the inspection as a front wheel bearing. Fit a new bearing and the noise will calm down considerably.

• Lazy handbrake: The handbrake’s holding power currently does not meet inspection requirements — the cables or calipers need some traditional fiddling and adjustment.

• Engine‑bay mystery leak: There is oily sweating or a possible small leak in the engine bay. I couldn’t pinpoint the exact source, so it may be nothing more than accumulated grime and seepage over the years, or a small leak that incidentally helps protect the underbody from rust.

Great project for someone handy

This Volvo is an excellent choice if you have steady tools or know an inexpensive trusted mechanic. Automatic climate control, cruise control and a leather‑wrapped multifunction steering wheel make it an excellent daily car after repairs, offering good value for every euro spent.
